Easy Carmels
 
Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 pound 2-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 1 cup white corn syrup
  • 1 can (15 oz or 1-1/3 cup) Bordens sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
  1. Melt butter or margarine in heavy 3qt sauce pan.
  2. Add brown sugar and salt, stirring till thoroughly combined.
  3. Blend in corn syrup.
  4. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches 255-260° - about 12 to 15 minutes
  5. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour into buttered pan - cool thoroughly, then cut and wrap in wax paper.
